we know this isn’t the most exciting topic, but it is an important part to ensure that you get the most out of your favorite candle. so please read our tips on how to take care of your candle.

candle care

GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CANDLE

before burning

trim your wick each time before burning your candle to 5mm. this will ensure a soot- and flicker free, clean burn.

the first time you burn your candle, you should burn at least 2-4 hours, or until the edge of the jar has been reached. please note that burn times vary according to your rooms temperature.

when lighting a candle, use long matches or a long-reach lighter and make sure to place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. we recommend using our cork lid for this. this will also help prevent possible heat damage to counters and table surfaces and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking.

keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.

avoid drafts, vents or air currents. this will help prevent rapid or uneven burning as well as sooting.

cleaning & repurposing

one great thing about botanical wax is how easy it is to clean it. just use soap and hot water to wash out the jar. that’s it, it’s that simple.

you should never burn a candle all the way down to the bottom as the glass can get extremly hot, we recommend to leave about 2 cm of wax remaining, just to be safe.

upcycle your jar when your candle is used up! we recommend using them to hold pens, cotton swabs, hair ties, nails & screws- or use it as a planter for your your plants.

candle safety

BETTER BE SAFE THAN SORRY

don’t burn a candle all the way down. we recommend leaving about 2cm to ensure that the candle jar doesn’t overheat. always burn the candle within your sight and in a well ventilated room. never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

place burning candles at least 8cm from one another. this is to make sure they don’t melt one another, or create their own drafts that will cause the candles to burn improperly.

keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.

use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing.
